Cosy Sundays: Bath and Body Works Heirloom Pear

Bath and Body Works candles are probably the most talked about candle from YouTubers I watch Stateside, so when I found out my friends were visiting New York last summer, I made a cheeky request for them to bring me back one of their famous three wicked candles.
That was a pretty big ask seeing as those candles take up a sizeable percentage of precious luggage space and weight restriction, so I was still very chuffed when they brought back this Heirloom Pear mini candle for me. Scents are a very personal preference, so I was very lucky that the one they chose was right up my street.
Not too sickly sweet, nor earthy.

The mini candles have only one wick and a burn time of approximately 10 hours, which is a lot considering how small the candle is (I don't have giant hands! :p). The scent throw is comparable to the standard one wick Ikea candles that are cheap and cheerful and a lot more accessible over here in the UK.

Saying that however, I have found in the past that it is very difficult to get my Ikea candle to burn neatly without tunnelling. One of the things I look for in my candles is the burn; whether or not it melts all the way to the edges - and with the B&BW candles, I always see the 3-wicked candles with that beautiful layer of clear, melted wax. There is something oddly satisfying about that clear layer, and I am happy to report that my mini candle achieved that beautiful effect with time, although it has the benefit of being a mini candle after all!

So my verdict: Are Bath and Body Works candles worth the hype?
I would give it a provisional yes, the mini candle is ideal for my bedroom and non-invasive to the rest of my family who aren't candle fanatic's like me. They come in cute packaging and have a wide range of scents to choose from, with a permanent line and seasonal editions. They also make a lovely gift and souvenir at approximately £2 each (they seem to constantly be on a 3 for $10 offer) and you could buy a few different scents and they can pick which ones they like without breaking the bank (and you get to keep the rest!).

As for the 3 wick versions? Let's just say I got itchy fingers and ordered two off eBay...
I may or may not have justified it as 'Something for the blog'... Review will be up same time next week ;)

  1. I can't believe that they only come 2 pounds for one! Such a great gift making opportunity here! And thanks for tackling the hype question, I've had loads of friends, even my sister, keep telling me about these. If I see them I'm going to head over to try them out. I might not be a candle fanatic, but I do love them and have several at home all the time. So glad I clicked on your comment on FASHIONVIBE and got led back here to yours. It's seriously full of GREAT info and juicy pics here! Just followed you on GFC and bloglovin', be sure to see more of you soon. By the way, I just posted my new layering (step-by-step) post on how to style some old CÉLINE floral trousers and make them new new again. Check it out to see how many layers does it take to get to the juicy center haha!

  2. I've always assumed that B&BW was popular among YTers because it was a non-alienating universally popular and accessible good/brand. Anyway, I think I might like the scent you chose myself. Not too sweet nor too earthy is right up my alley.
